Satellite Imaging and the Web
Nice to see Digital Globe getting linked to Web 2 in this piece by John Battelle. Having spent a good part of my early career on satellite imaging and the latter part working with the Web, I'm glad to see we're getting to the point where the two can start becoming more integrated (taking it beyond Google Maps and Google Earth).

Augmented Reality
Tuning in to the rise of augmented reality. Started with the GE demo, saw the new iPhone app, and checked out some of the up and coming stuff on YouTube. Great stuff!

iPhone OS 3.0
Downloaded iPhone OS 3.0 today and installed with no problems. Was very pleased to setup tethering between the iPhone and MacBook Pro and have it work within minutes ... sweet. Now I'll be able to start making better use of that 6 GB/mth data plan I have with Rogers!

TrailGuru
Out for a run with the kids this morning. I've been using TrailGuru on the iPhone to help track my runs. By and large it works well enough for my purposes. The only times I run into trouble are when I'm in the forest for an extended period - the signal gets lost.
Anyways, I used an armband today instead of putting the phone in a pocket or carrying it. I was pleased with the results. The app was able to maintain a better signal for the entire run.

Spring Break
It's spring break time so we're up at Whistler, BC for a few days of rest and relaxation. It's been snowing all weekend which has made the trip even better. Soft, crunchy snow ... great for snowballs.
The reason I mention this is that these trips provide an opportunity to spend time pursuing new interests. On this trip, the time was spent getting up to speed on twitter and, as a by-product, finding out about twine and kosmix. More to come once I've had some time to play around.
Back to Whistler, things are gearing up for the Olympics next year. Still a bunch of work to do on the road, but the venues are coming along nicely and if we have this much snow next year, the whole thing should be great
